Taking a break

Thanks for joining me again and today is going to be a very short episode.

I didn’t want to leave you with no show this week but I’ve been going for almost 6 months and hardly had a break. My wife has been telling me over and over that I need to take a week off of the show to rest and take care of myself. She says that I’ve been looking more and more stressed and exhausted so I’m kinda doing that this week. Tomorrow is my birthday and I’m just going to take it easy and relax in a hammock or something. I’m really sorry I’m not leaving you with a full episode but it takes a minimum of 2 days to produce the show like I normally do, chock full of information and details and I just don’t have it in me this week. It’s kinda nice to know I don’t have to get all that done!

I was out checking on the animals and Titus dropped in to say hi and ask what I was doing, so we took some pictures for you guys and he decided to get a little goofy.

But I did want to leave you with a message and encourage you to take some time every once in awhile to rest, and take care of yourself. Sometimes we can get too wrapped up in work and getting things done that we get burnt out and over exert ourselves. So take a break once in awhile and smell the roses or your flower of choice. Take a nap in a hammock, play with your dog, play with your kids, swim, lay out in the sun and soak up some rays. Go see a movie or take a drive just to feel the wind.

Maybe I’ll plant some trees and bushes, maybe I’ll hook up some irrigation or go pick up the materials I need to get my barn addition built. I’ll probably be doing some work this weekend but I’ll be taking it easy too.

So if you’ve been getting worn out, schedule a time to just do nothing. Or maybe catch up on a hobby that you really enjoy. I for one am going to do some reading. I just got a copy of Organic Orcharding by Gene Logsdon that was written 2 years before I was born.

The important thing is to remember why we work towards greater freedom and liberty in our lives, it’s so we don’t have to feel like a slave to anything including our work. And it’s super important to enjoy the fruits of our labor. So if you’ve been waiting like I do until someone says “Take a break!” here’s me saying “Take a break!!”

I hope you have a good weekend, I sure will.

Until next week

I hope you have a wonderful day, God Bless. And as always “Go Do Good Things”

  1. Love the show Nick! Good message, it is important to take time to recharge. Have a great birthday.

  2. You podcast people need to take a least a week each month off. We listeners need to put on big pants and get stuff done during that down time. Knowing that even down time is a way to replenish family connections and give the body a mini break would seem more than fair.
What you give us in solid knowledge is worth so much and I want you to be able to continue without feeling Burnt out.

  3. Nick – Your podcasts are jammed packed full of info and so helpful – you deserve a regularly scheduled break – I suggest fishing with your kids – keep up the great work, but rest so you can keep enjoy life. Thank you for all your great work, jrwalker We listeners can always go back an listen to other episodes – It takes me about 3 times to get 75% of what you are saying anyway – the podcasts are that full of info – I had emailed you about softwood cuttings and took you advice ” just try it” I am having mixed success, but now have the drive to keep working at it to become successful…..instead of having analysis paralysis.
